In my garden now: Rhubarb, feijoa, bok choy, bananas...

I love Feijoas, such a New Zealand icon. It took my husband a while to convince me to plant rhubarb, but I have to admit that it is a great plant, and it keeps popping up every year, stronger than before

If you don’t have access to cheap and plentiful feijoas, I’ve added a note about alternative fruits you could try – but, please hunt them down if you can as they’re ripe and abundant now and are the prefect fruit for a shortcake

We came home with some huge funny shaped feijoas (never mind the funny shape, they were delicious), mandarins, some massive kumara (very knobbly shaped and difficult to peel but beautiful to eat), pumpkins & squash and some little golden kiwifruit that were quite hard (the stall holder said they’d ripen up just fine (they didn’t))
